Co-working Session Format
Hi! We’re so glad you’re here! Our sessions are free and peer-run, offering a supportive space to make steady progress together.
We host both last-minute and scheduled co-working sessions. You can find sessions posted in our "Schedule" Group in WhatsApp
Here is a quick overview of how our co-working sessions usually go:
1. Join anytime
-
You’re welcome to hop in even if we’re already mid-session. Please join with your mic off in case a session is in progress. The link is in the WhatsApp "Schedule" group description and usually also posted in the Schedule chat. If no one’s there, feel free to ask if a session is open or if someone would like to work. Once we’ve met you, you can request co-host privileges so you can start sessions whenever you’d like. If you decide it’s not for you, no problem! Just let us know so we can remove your co-host privileges, as we have a limited number available per meeting link.
2. Introductions and Intentions (5-10 mins)
-
We start with short introductions and share your intention for the work hour (what you plan to work on during the session).
-
Let us know what you need during each session.
If you’re working in the library or lab and can only communicate through chat, that’s completely fine. If you need to skip a break or prefer shorter check-ins, just let the group know. Flexibility is part of what makes our sessions work.
3. Co-work (60-90 mins)
-
We set a 60- or 90-minute timer to focus on our work or research. You’re welcome to keep your camera on or off. Whatever helps you stay accountable and/or comfortable :).
4. Break and Reflection
-
When the timer ends, we meet back up to check in honestly about how it went. It’s a great way to stay accountable and remind ourselves that productivity isn’t 100% all the time. We keep it brief to respect everyone’s focus time, but we may take a little longer if someone needs to vent or get a quick pep talk. Feel free to gently guide the group by saying something like, “Should we start another session?” or “I need to get back to work.” Open communication helps everyone get what they need.
5. Repeat or Wrap-up
-
Depending on the group’s energy, we may start another round or end for the day.
-
Don’t stress about perfection or comparison. The goal is simply to show up, make some progress, and feel supported while doing it. We’re looking forward to meeting you!

About PhinisheD!
You’ve come so far! Don’t finish alone!
PhinisheD Lab is a supportive co-working space for PhD students who need more than deadlines and pressure to make it through. Whether you're battling burnout, working in isolation, or just need someone to say, “I get it,” this is a space to show up as you are—no performance, no judgment.

Here, progress is measured in presence, not perfection. We write together, reflect together, and remind each other that your journey—whatever it looks like—is valid and worth honoring.
